30 Rhode Island Nursing Homes Receive National Honors for Exemplary Customer Satisfaction
Award Recognizes Nursing Homes' Commitment to Quality
Warwick, RI, June 11, 2008 - My InnerView -an independent research firm - today awarded 30 Rhode Island nursing homes the coveted Excellence in Action award, an honor that recognizes those nursing homes that have made a commitment to continuous quality improvement and have successfully made quality a priority to better serve their customers' needs. Rhode Island was second only to Georgia which included 39 award winners. (Oklahoma also had 30 winners.) Only 299 facilities received the award nationwide.
"This year's award recipients demonstrate their dedication to excellence in quality," said Brad Shiverick, Chief Quality Officer, My InnerView. "The facilities receiving the Excellence in Action award have achieved high levels of excellence in overall facility quality by having overall resident and family satisfaction levels fall within the top ten percent of My InnerView's customer database. This is a substantial accomplishment and these facilities deserved to be recognized."
The award was presented to My InnerView customers who completed a family or resident satisfaction survey in 2007, had a minimum 30 percent response rate and scored in the top ten percent of qualifying facilities on the question, "What is your recommendation of this facility to others," in terms of the percent of respondents rating the nursing home as "excellent."
Virginia Burke, President of the Rhode Island Health Care Association (RIHCA), a non-profit organization comprised of two-thirds of Rhode Island's skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, commended those RIHCA members who achieved the top 10 percent status, noting Rhode Island's high percentage of winners. "The smallest state in the county had among the most award winners for delivery of top quality nursing home care. That's something to be proud of," she said.
RIHCA members who earned the Excellence in Action award are: Berkshire Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Providence; Briarcliffe Manor, Johnston; Elmhurst Extended Care, Providence; Grace Barker Nursing Center, Warren; NancyAnn Nursing Facility; Foster; Overlook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pascoag; Scallop Shell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Peace Dale; Silver Creek Manor, Bristol; Sunny View Nursing Home, Warwick; The Clipper Home, Westerly; The Friendly Home, Woonsocket; Village House Newport; and West View Health Care Center, West Warwick.
