WARWICK, RI, January 8, 2008 - Rhode Island Health Care Association (RIHCA) names Virginia M. Burke, Esq. of Barrington, Rhode Island as its new President and CEO. Burke brings to RIHCA a wealth of experience in the provision of health care and the laws that govern health care delivery.

"Burke is well known for her legal and healthcare expertise in RI and beyond and we are honored to have someone so well-versed in state and federal health care law leading our organization," said Rick Gamache, Chairman of the Board of the Rhode Island Health Care Association.

Burke began her career as a Registered Nurse at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC, where an interest in health care policy led her to attend Georgetown Law School. After graduating from Georgetown, she embarked on a law practice specializing in the representation of health care providers.

Since 1994, she has been practicing in Rhode Island, representing nursing homes, hospitals, home health agencies, and health professionals, most recently with the firm of Edwards, Angell, Palmer and Dodge. Her experience encompasses licensure, reimbursement, certificate of need, and regulatory compliance matters. In addition, she has taught Health Law and Policy as an adjunct faculty member at Roger Williams Law School. She is a regional and national speaker on legal topics pertinent to nursing homes.
